Deilman Daub: Veteran of the American Revolution

Deilman Daub (1760-1849, my 5th Great Grandfather)

Deilman Daub was born in Westfalen, Germany on February 16, 1760 to Johann and Anna Catherine (Memilo) Daub. Deilman came to America sometime before 1776 and settled in Lancaster County, PA. His father was German, his mother French. English was most likely his 3rd language.

Deilman became an American Patriot shortly after July 4th, 1776, when he joined the Lancaster Militia. Deilman was just 16 years old at the time of enlistment. Deilman served seven months with the militia and marched with Gen Washington through NJ. Little else is known about Deilman’s service. For his service, Deilman received a Land Bounty of 160 acres on the frontier of western PA. The land was most likely located in what would become Lebanon County.

After the war Deilman married Barbara Weisz and settled in Lebanon, PA. Deilman was married three times, out living his first two wives. In 1832 Deilman was granted a Military Pension for his service during the American Revolution. His pension payment was $23.33 year. Deilman died April 17, 1849 in Lebanon, PA. His will mentions 8 living children.

(Deilman Daub’s military service and lineage to Charles Garrison has been accepted by the Sons of the American Revolution. If any women want to join the Daughters of the American Revolution they will have to submit the “proofs”. I have them all. Just let me know and I can mail them to you. Likewise for any male descendants from Charles Garrison.)

  1. Great information! I am researching for a friend and I believe she is a descendant of Rebecca Daub, (wife of Valentine Hershberger) daughter of Johannes (John) Daub and Elizabeth Steeger (Stager). I would like to confirm, Thanks in advance for you help! Carol

  2. Carol, Thanks! Glad you found the information useful. I sent you an email regarding what I know of Rebecca Daub.

  3. Hi, Deilman Daub is also my 5th great grandfather and I am trying to research his wives and children other than Elisabeth Daub who married Henry Doubler McCord. (Elisabeth and Henry are my 4th great grandparents.) Can you email me with any info you may have? And if you are on Ancestry.com I can let you see my tree so we can compare and discuss information. Thank you for this blog.

  4. Hi, Deilmen Daub was married to Barbara Weisz my 6x great grandmother I would like any information you would have on him and any other family info. Laura Daub was my mother’s biological paternal grandmother. Thank you

  5. I love your blog and have learned a lot about my Garrison side. My grandfather Ralph Garrison (Adline B Daub’s son) was estranged from the family and I knew nothing about them. Deilmen Daub is my 5th great grandfather. Would like to know if I am eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. If you have any info on that I would love to hear it~

    1. Hello Cousin! Yes, you can join DAR through Deilman. He is already part of the DAR database, so his service does not have to be established. I sent you an email to the address you included with your message. If you don’t get the email, then you should try again (maybe check your Spam folder). Moe

  6. Hi! My name is Sean and my email is the_oat22@yahoo.com. I believe I am related to Deilman through my grandmother. My great grandmother was Anna Williamson. Her parents were Robert Williamson and Sarah McCord. Sarahs parents were Krause Mcord and Rebecca Rank, and here is where i am not sure. I believe Krauses parents were Henry Dobler McCord and Elizabeth Daub, and of course Elizabeth is Deilmans daughter. If this seems remotely correct, please let me know, as I am very much interested in joining the Sons eventually.

  7. Hello Sean, My records show Deilman had two daughters named Elizabeth. One with his 1st wife (Babara Weisz) and one with his 2nd wife (Ann Robins). The 2nd Elizabeth was born 3 Jun 1810. I have no other information for either Elizabeth.
You may want to check the on-line DAR database. There may be an old application made through Elizabeth to Deilman.
